Himalayan Yoga Institute

Ganga Devi is the founder/director and principal teacher and has taught classes and workshops on yoga, diet and lifestyle in the USA, India, Germany, Croatia and the UK for nearly three decades.

Her unique style of teaching is the result of a wealth of knowledge and experience gained through many years of practical yoga training and teaching yoga to people with different needs and levels of ability. Her approach is down-to-earth while at the same time inspirational, uplifting and infused with bhakti.

Beyond the recent trend in yoga to focus on a narrow set of asanas practiced within the confines of a certain style, Himalayan Yoga institute’s approach is different. They believe in providing you with a broad yogic education to empower you to make the best possible choices and create a modern yoga class that respects yoga’s traditions and foundation while taking into account the unique personal needs of your students.

Himalayan Yoga Institute has a marked individualized approach. Each student joining in their TTC is cherished and important. They strongly believe that each person counts so they accept only a limited number of people (20 students).

You will be introduced to the principles of teaching a Hatha class, a Vinyasa class and a Restorative class, within the larger picture of the Rajadhiraja School of Yoga. You will receive a classical yoga training which honours the traditional teachings. Rather than training you to duplicate a specific system or style, they offer you an environment and resources to develop the art and science of teaching yoga.

Their courses are residential and are designed according to the ancient Gurukula educational system, providing you with the opportunity to spend 25 days under the same roof with your teachers and co-students.

Traditionally, residing in a gurukula or ashram meant following a daily routine of yoga training while living and learning with a teacher or guru and receiving regular individualized guidance. Ashram living ensured an intensive process of accelerated learning while strengthening a person’s own yoga practice through observation of the teacher, self-discipline and probing into the nature of mind, body and spirit.

 Abhinam Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow School

With schools both in Dharamsala & Goa, Abhinam Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow School was established by Namito, a lifelong disciple of Mr. BKS Iyengar.

The theme of Abhinam teacher training courses (TTC) is learning the art of teaching yoga in its totality. They focus on alignment, therapy and restorative yoga which is very helpful to prevent injuries and it gives quick recovery from fatigue during the intensive training

Based on Iyengar alignment principles they believe on the knowledge of correct alignment as essential for every Yoga practitioner. Only through that can one truly benefit and practice Yoga injury free. Dedicated to each student’s individual growth, Abhinam Yoga creates a supportive and non-competitive learning environment.

In ancient days Yoga was taught from the childhood. All the postures were presented to children with Vinyasa Flow. It was used to motivate children into practicing yoga during their stay in Gurukula, the mystery schools. So that they can just touch and go, in and out of a pose, feel playful, practice jump back-jump through, forward bend, back bend, twists, inversions, sitting poses and rest of it without being bored. This was the beginning of their journey into yogic life.

In other words, it is a dynamic practice of Asana synchronized with breath. Asanas are practiced in a sequence in a dynamic and flowing style using breath, drishti (gaze) and bandhas (energy locks). It will enable students to teach Ashtanga yoga and also create their own Vinyasa Flow sequences according to their group of students.
